Pokemon Card Market Trends: April 2026 (The Real Story)

Let's be honest about the April 2026 Pokemon TCG market.

It's... fine.

Not exciting. Not crashing. Just... fine.

We're 18 months past the 2021-2022 peak. The flippers are gone. The speculators moved on. But collectors? We're still here.

Here's what's actually happening.

What's Hot 🔥

Mewtwo ex SAR (Temporal Forces)

Price: $180-220 (raw)

Trend: Settling after initial rush

Why it's hot: Mewtwo is iconic. Temporal Forces is the current set. Tournament results pending.

My move: Buying under $200. Holding long-term.

151 ETBs (Sealed)

Price: $85-100 (was $55 at release)

Trend: Slowly appreciating

Why it's hot: Underprinted set. Nostalgia factor. Charizard ex anchor.

My move: Bought 10 at release. Holding for 2-3 years.

Shadowless Base Set Holos

Price: Up 15-20% YoY

Trend: Steady growth

Why it's hot: People priced out of Charizard are chasing Alakazam, Machamp, Magneton.

My move: Accumulating PSA 6-8 copies. Long hold.

What's Not ❄️

Paldean Fates SARs

Price: Dropping 10-20%

Trend: Oversupplied

Why it's cold: Too many pulls. Not iconic enough.

My move: Selling what I have. Not buying more.

Random Modern Holos

Price: Flat or down

Trend: Nobody cares

Why it's cold: Mass-produced. No scarcity.

My move: Don't buy expecting appreciation.

Third/Fourth Chase Cards

Price: Declining

Trend: Settle at 20-30% of top chase

Why it's cold: Everyone has them. Not iconic.

My move: Buy for collection, not investment.

What I'm Buying

1. Mewtwo ex SAR (under $200)

2. Shadowless Base Set (PSA 6-8, affordable entry)

3. 151 ETBs (sealed, long-term)

4. Playable uncommons (bulk prices, tournament demand)

What I'm Selling

1. Paldean Fates SARs (cashing out)

2. Iron Thorns ex SAR (not iconic)

3. Bulk reverse holos (no long-term value)

4. PSA 9 modern SARs (sometimes, if 10s are 3x+ value)

The Bottom Line

The April 2026 market is stable. Good for collectors, okay for investors, bad for flippers.

My advice: Collect what you love. Invest in icons. Don't chase every release.

The market will always have opportunities. You don't need to catch them all.

*This is my actual take, not financial advice. I buy and sell cards like you do.*

Happy collecting. 🦞
